Heart beats like a drum
time passing by
every second
life changes
before our eyes
Do you ever contemplate
on the condition of a moment?
Do you ever pause to ask yourself
what you are thinking,
how you are feeling,
at this very moment
if life consists of numerous moments
of right here, right now,
then right here, right now
should be the essence of life
an urge hastens
to enlighten human beings,
creatures of habits
to awaken our senses
from slumber and indulgence
from values built by others
for our mindless existence
here and now
wake up our senses
the journey starts
when the search begins
to reflect on our being
to ask essential questions
Who am I?
Why am I alive?
The 2015 Asian Heritage Month
Visual Art Exhibition
depicts such a journey
towards the spiritual wisdom
inherited from our forefathers in Asia
brought to this land
by generations of immigrants
to enrich the lives of the descendents
WE---we are
a group of Asian Canadian artists
dipping our Chinese brushes
in ink and water
landing our brush strokes
across white Xuan paper
our emotional discharge
engendered a moment of awakening
then and there, instantly,
the absorbing Xuan paper
recorded our journey
our creativity
moments of awareness
fully lived
the moments have passed
and yet, the meaning
has transcended time and space
in the texture of ink and water
remaining on the Xuan paper
right here, right now
continues, we hope,
to enlighten
