She has produced deeply personal art that spanned darker earlier works in her formative years, to the exuberance of her glorious floral paintings created from the 1980s onwards. Subject of the award-winning film, Helen Lucas: Her Journey – Our Journey, the film included an interview with her friend Margaret Laurence. As Laurence remarked, “The affirmation of life, in the midst of pain, is the story of your art, my friend.”
