This event provides an opportunity for participants to meet local candidates running to be Members of the Federal Parliament for Mississauga
GOAL: Peel Chinese Community Service Hub (PCCSH) supports informed participation of every citizen in our country's democratic process to uphold the overall health of Canadian democracy. This event will be the 5th meet-and-greet we organize to prepare communities for upcoming elections. It is part of our civic education and civic engagement series.
EVENT OBJECTIVE: Help eligible voters, especially new Canadians who will vote for the first time, get familiarized with the voting process and the candidates whom they are going to elect to represent them for the next four years in the Canadian Parliament. In addition to empowering them to make informed decisions at the polls, we will also encourage them to get involved and support their choice candidates' election campaigns.
WHO WILL BE INVITED: All nominated candidates of major political parties running for Members of Parliament for electoral districts in Mississauga.
FORMAT: There will be no debates but presentations by candidates on their personal backgrounds and party platforms within specified time limits. We will make every effort to ensure it is fair, balanced and informative.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS: Following premeditated questions around national policies from the organizers, we will invite the floor to submit questions and select randomly for ALL the parties to answer within the same time allowance.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Those who have no access to internet may call the phone number listed on the flyer for assistance. This is primarily an English-language event with minimal Mandarin interpretation.
DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION: We welcome participation from community members of diverse cultural backgrounds, religions, and beliefs. We will try our best to reach out to different communities.
