安省省长韦恩今天宣布对内阁稍作调整,委任纳兰杜(Indira Naidoo-Harris)出任教育厅副厅长,专责儿童早年教育及日托服务。
省政府在公告中说,纳兰杜的职位名称为教育厅副厅长(早年教育及日托服务),她将与教育厅厅长肩并肩地推行省府的儿童教育方略,继续为安省的儿童早年教育及日托系统,建造高素质、人人可得、人们支付得起的服务,支持家长们的选择及弹性,促进儿童身心的健康发展。
纳兰杜将继续以下几方面现有的工作﹕
* 为安省幼儿与家庭中心(Ontario early Years Child and Family Centres)建立一个更新、统一的系统,为各处家庭与社区提供更佳的服务
* 确保日托服务政策配合省府在其他方面的努力,比如解决男女同工不同酬的问题
* 与联邦及省、特区政府合作,构筑一个全国性的早年学习及日托服务框架。
省长韦恩说﹕「获得高素质、可负担的日托服务,对安省家庭来说很重要。设置教育厅副厅长一职,显示我们在继续履行我们的承诺,继续建造一个日托及儿童早年教育的系统,以减轻家长们的负担,并给儿童一个健康发展的良机。」
教育厅副厅长(早年教育及日托服务)纳兰杜说﹕「孩子们的早年发展,可以影响他们的终生。在这个新的职位上,我期待与日托服务机构、人士及安省家庭紧密合作,为我们的孩子们打好成功的基础。我们将建立一个早年教育及日托服务系统,支持安省的家长,为更多的孩子提供他们需要和应得的好的开端。」
New Associate Minister of Education Will Lead Work on Early Years and Child Care
Premier Kathleen Wynne today announced a change to her cabinet that will help strengthen supports for parents and give children the best possible start in life.
Indira Naidoo-Harris, MPP for Halton, becomes Associate Minister of Education (Early Years and Child Care). She will lead the government's efforts, in partnership with the Minister of Education, to build a high-quality, accessible and affordable early years and child care system that supports choice and flexibility for parents and promotes healthy development for children.
Naidoo-Harris will build on work to date in several areas, including:

Putting in place a renewed and coordinated system of Ontario Early Years Child and Family Centres to better serve families and communities

Ensuring that child care policies align with government efforts in areas such as addressing the gender wage gap

Working with the federal and provincial and territorial governments on a national early learning and child care framework.
Giving children the best start in life is part of the government's economic plan to build Ontario up and deliver on its number-one priority to grow the economy and create jobs. The four-part plan includes helping more people get and create the jobs of the future by expanding access to high-quality college and university education. The plan is making the largest infrastructure investment in hospitals, schools, roads, bridges and transit in Ontario's history and is investing in a low-carbon economy driven by innovative, high-growth, export-oriented businesses. The plan is also helpin g working Ontarians achieve a more secure retirement.

Starting September 1, Ontario is ending fees for licensed child care centre and home child care agency wait lists. It is the first province to do so.

Since 2012–13, the number of licensed spaces in child care centres has increased by more than 56,000 — a 19% increase.

Ontario is providing $120 million over three years in new funding to create about 4,000 safe, high-quality, licensed child care spaces in schools across the province.

Ontario is investing $269 million over three years to support a wage increase for early childhood educators and other child care professionals in licensed child care settings.

Full-day kindergarten has been available to every four- and five-year-old in Ontario since September 2014. Families could save up to $6,500 per child each year in child care costs by enrolling their child in full-day kindergarten.
